TALKING TO WALLS: Naked

11/27/08

Most people use itunes or napster or emusic to buy music online. Have you heard about Aimee Street? It's a great new site that not only sells non-DRM mp3s, but prices them based on demand. So bands like us cost less than say the new Kanye record. But there's still the 99 cent cap per song.

Interested? Want to see more about what they're about? How about a free coupon to get you started buying music?

http://www.amiestreet.com/_l/freemoney

This is an offer they're extending to fans of bands who are featured in their store, so give it a try. I did and found a ton of bands that I knew and wanted but didn't have the money for, and a bunch of free albums from small bands that I never heard of and absolutely loved and still listen to months later (New Invisible Joy, The Blue Aeroplanes).

(Where do you like to buy music online? Tell us, even if you think it's obvious, as we're working on a distribution deal for the next record.)

************

Are you a guitarist or have to shop for one? I'm a Spectraflex Cables artist, and they gave me an offer to share with our fans: 20% off everything in their store. Just go to www.spectraflex.com and use the coupon code SPEClovesMYfriends to get this special rate. Offer is god from 11/28-12/31. I really love their stuff, used it for years, so I can honestly say you'll love them. They sound clean, durable, everything you could ever want in a guitar cable. (Do you happen to play with their cables? Tell me, let's geek out about gear...)

PLEASE NOTE: Talking to Walls does NOT get anything out of the above offers (well, if you buy our record on Aimee Street we get our normal royalties). These are just two companies that we do regular business with that I really and truely stand behind, and they've been good to us. So I'm just sharing what I think might be helpful.

Talking to Walls is pleased to announce that we've just signed a licensing deal with Octagon, a sports management company that will be placing some of our songs in their DVDs, webisodes, and more. They work with clients all over the world, and we're thrilled that they came to us. More details to come!

In other news, Nat and Brian are doing an acoustic doubleheader Friday 11/28 at two venues in Bridgeport - check the dates for more details...

What we've been doing

So we've made mention here and there about what we've been up to without actually saying it. We've been telling people close to us all about it, and not really let on publicly. So here it is, more or less obviously, since the cat's been falling out of the bag: we're working on a new album, due to drop this winter. It is being produced by Greg Giorgio (Interpol, The National, Mates of State, Tokyo Police Club) and it's the most adventurous detailed and textured recording we've ever worked on. Lots of other things hopefully to go along with it, as well. We made the express decision to make this the best possible record we could, as either a swan song or a start of a new phase. We're really excited about the possibilities that Greg has made available to us, as well as from the learning we did in the past year, and can't wait to share.

Video from the Studio

We're going to be posting video updates as we work in the studio on a regular basis. Here's the first one, where Nat gives a tour of the studio at Firehouse 12 in New Haven, and Peter and Greg Giorgio, our producer, goof around.

"Beautiful" Music Video

Video directed by Kurt Graser. This video was left over from our time promoting "Naked", and the way things happened we just never had the chance to release it. So to clear the decks, we've put it up now.
